Mr. Chatterjee has spent twenty years turning around distressed companies as a C-level executive, investor and investment banker. He has a track record of bringing businesses back to stability and profitability through rapid financial, operational, and strategic transformations.
Until recently, Mr. Chatterjee served as Chief Financial Officer of Fred’s Inc., a NASDAQ-listed discount retail and pharmacy chain with almost 600 locations. Prior to Fred’s, Mr. Chatterjee served in interim roles as CFO and Head of Business Development at Rachel Zoe Inc. and Microdynamics Group. At both companies, Mr. Chatterjee led restructuring efforts that unlocked value and oversaw the successful sale of assets to private equity-backed strategic buyers.
Prior to those roles, Mr. Chatterjee ran strategy and business development at NYSE-listed Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, where he worked directly with the CEO and Founder to orchestrate a rapid turnaround of the company. While there, he spearheaded that company’s cost rationalization efforts and transformation to an asset-light operating model. Mr. Chatterjee also led the M&A process by which Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia was sold for a premium to a private equity-backed brand licensing company.
Before to his corporate roles, Mr. Chatterjee spent 15 years working on Wall Street first as an investment banker and then as an investment analyst at firms including Merrill Lynch (now Bank of America), Piper Jaffray and Harbinger Capital Partners. Mr. Chatterjee graduated from Brown University with a degree in International Commerce.
